In 1979, Duane K. Stewart, a civil engineer, founds Duane K. Stewart & Associates Inc. with a staff that includes one engineering technician, and an office manager.

By 1983, the company becomes a vehicle for significant engineering and surveying work in Research Triangle Park, NC. The company also begins working with housing developers in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area. With families relocating to the Triangle to work in the rapidly developing Research Triangle Park, Duane K. Stewart & Associates sees the opportunity for work in the new suburbs and expands sanitary engineering services to meet the high demand. It is during this time that Duane K. Stewart & Associates recognizes the importance of enduring business partnerships.

Triangle Surveyors Inc. is founded in 1985, while significant engineering and survey work is underway to develop the growing communities around the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area. Ron Carpenter, a registered surveyor from Washington, NC, is brought on board in 1986 to run Triangle Surveyors Inc.

Duane K. Stewart & Associates continues to grow, establishing new partnerships throughout the Triangle. Clients continue to appreciate benefits from Duane K.
